This was a fun sewing project for a few reasons. First off, I bought the fabric at the op shop (thrift store). It’s a merino baby rib knit and cost $4! What a score! It was an odd shape, obviously left over from someone else’s past sewing project. It also had a couple little holes in it and a stain or two, so it was a fun challenge to get all the pieces cut out of it. I changed the pattern from a tunic into a regular top for that reason.
I love the look of this pattern. It’s elegant and comfortable at the same time. The pattern is the Laurel Dress/Tunic from Greenstyle Creations. I love that it comes in such a great size range too, XXS – 3XL. I made it up in the XS.
Again, this pattern is from the current Sew Fab Pattern Sale. You can read all about it here*

Oh I love this top version! I wasn’t overly keen on the dress for myself but love what you’ve done here 🙂

The top turned out great! As for the color, I think it looks fine, but I understand your concern. I think individual garments can be made to look less “mature” (hehe) if you wear some funky jewelry or pair it with an unexpected print or color for the bottoms.

There has been some great versions of the dress on the tour, but I’m much more a top and pants kinda girl.

I think it looks lovely and not ‘mature’. Just make sure you finish it or you will never wear it!!
