I’m a bit sad that Selfish Sewing Week is over already. Thank you so much to Rachael and Jill for hosting the series. It was so nice to make some things for myself and I can’t tell you how excited I am to have some new clothes in my wardrobe. I haven’t really been shopping since before I was pregnant with Roman! That’s like 4 years ago! I got a lot more done this week than I thought I would and I feel totally set for the warmer weather now. I’ve been wearing my Big T Feeding Top so much, that I decided to whip up another one. This one is made from a tissue knit with little silver polka dots on it. Again, I went with the tunic length on it…I really love tops this length. They’re perfect for chucking on over a pair of leggings! Making the Colette Sorbetto has really sold me on the effort it takes to do a muslin first. I’m so happy with the fit…though I think I might lower the neckline some more. I can’t believe I cut into my Caesar Liberty Lawn too, it was my favourite piece in my stash. I was so scared, but I’m glad I did. Because, I tell you what’s better than staring at lush fabric in your stash? Wearing it all day and catching it every time you go past a mirror! I must thank hubby for taking all these dorky pictures of me. It was quite a windy day…not the best for relaxing on the balcony. Ok, time to go and clean the house after neglecting it all week 😉

I’m so impressed. I’ve had a massive week with family staying (hosting 10 people in my tiny little house is rather stressful). Hoping to sew something in the next couple of weeks – just for me!

Great job!! All the pieces look great, and cutting into Liberty Lawn really paid off, it’s gorgeous!! I wanted to ask you about the muslin, does it have to be the same weight as the fabric you are planning on using for the actual piece?
thingsforboys says
The muslin doesn’t HAVE to be the same weight fabric, though it does help. The one I used for mine was slightly heavier-weight than the lawn. More like a quilting cotton. I had it laying about though and couldn’t be bothered going to get more fabric. The more ‘drape’ your finished item has, the more critical it is that the muslin fabric is similar weight so you can get an idea of the finished look.

Great going Abby – you got much done and it all looks great!

Selfish sewing is such a great idea. Mum’s wants often tend to be at the bottom of the pile. You have some great new additions to your wardrobe. Well done.

I’m in love with this length of the Big T. So becoming! I might even wear it with leggings as you suggest even though I’m not really the leggings-type. In combo with this though, I totally see it.
