Today I wanted to share the project I am making for the #QuiltLikeABoss sewalong. Are you going to join in too?
I’ve had this paper piecing pattern by QuietPlay for a while now and I’m quite excited to use it. I’ve done a little bit of paper piecing and it’s a lot of fun. I love how accurate it is and how much detail you can squeeze into a small block. I’ve chosen to do the Geometric Sewing Machine pattern since it has the vintage sewing machine shape and I’m a bit of a sucker for a vintage machine.
I have also used the Geometric Bird pattern before in the past and the free Paper Plane pattern. You can see all of QuietPlay’s paper piecing patterns on Craftsy here (affiliate links). They are only a few dollars so don’t be scared to give one a go. They don’t come with full instructions, just piecing order, but you can find a full tutorial on how to put together a paper pieced pattern here.
I have to admit, I had a lot of fun pulling out all my fabrics for this! You can see in the picture below, that I roughly coloured in the pattern guide to get a sense of which colour goes where. This can really help when putting your paper pieced block together. Once I had coloured it in, I put a matching coloured cross on each section of the pattern so when it comes to sewing, I know what colour each section should be. Just remember when you’re doing this that the paper templates are a reverse of the finished block and the pattern guide).
I’m pretty sure this will end up being a cushion, but who knows?! You can also take a look at what Rachel is making and what Sarah is planning. Are you going to sew along for #QuiltLikeABoss? What are you making?

Such a cute pattern and definitely you! I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

I think this would look like an awesome cushion. I really like how paper piecing looks, definitely a form of quilting I would try in the future

Thanks. Yes, you’ll have to give it a go one day. There are so many cute patterns available!

Colouring in the block beforehand is such a clever idea, Abby! I’ll have to remember that one.
